This is a lovely simple design for a feminine and easy to wear cardigan. I wanted to make a cardigan that was a little bit boxy and reminiscent of the film Amelie. I just love all of the styling in that movie.
The result is something that looks a little bit vintage but with a modern edge achieved by using a deep rib hem and cuffs, slightly flared and cropped sleeves and making it very slightly cropped. The raglan shape and aran weight yarn make it a fairly quick project too. I managed to finish the sample cardigan in just 4 days. It knits up on a 5.5mm needle so is a great next stage project if you have learnt the basics of knitting and want to tackle your first garment. A great Christmas gift project.
I absolutely love wearing it and it goes so well with a dress or with jeans. I would recommend Rowan Felted Tweed Aran yarn for this design, as the yarn gives it a lovely texture and the colour range is perfect for Autumn.
