The Bowties Are Cool Shawl pays homage to the Dr. Who series and is full of encoded meaning, with lots of options for customization to show your love for your favorite Dr. Who characters. It was originally released as a Mystery Knit Along and is now available in its entirety for instant download.

It uses 2-100g skeins of fingering weight yarn and is tailored to showcase a lovely speckled skein and complementary solid or semi-solid yarn. Some specific yarn suggestions are provided, but you are encouraged to choose any speckled fingering weight yarn and solid skein of similar thickness for your shawl! Please ensure you have at least 400+ yds of speckled and 400+ yds solid/semi-solid yarn to complete the largest version of the shawl.

Please note: If you would like to use a line of fingering weight yarn with less yardage (such as Knit Picks Hawthorne Fingering Kettles Dyes or Speckled Handpaints at 100g/357yds) instructions are provided for modifications to keep your shawl to just 2 skeins of yarn!

The shawl was originally released in early 2016 as a series of five clues. It’s not so literal as to be inaccessible for non-Whovians; you will end up with a gorgeous shawl whether you’re a super fan or not!

A Very Special Thanks to my tech editor Liz Halla-Mattingly and my lovely testers Chrissy, Claire, Laura and Melissa!
