BRIANA’S WRAP

I made this in an Aran weight wool called Mecha. You could use a DK weight holding it double.
I used size 10 needles because the knitting is back and forth. You could use a circular needle.

My gauge was 8 rows of garter st to the inch. It is easier to count the ridges, so 4 ridges equals 1”.
Four sts equals 1”. The capelet measures 13” from the base of the neck to the bottom.

Overview of the shaping.
The shaping is done with short rows. This is a wrap and turn–no slip on the return. You will have 4 short row ridges followed by 4 ridges that go “all the way” to the neckline. The short row sections alternate using 6, 12, 18, & 24 sts before the turns and 8, 16, 24, 32 sts before turns. Two exceptions: there is a rise (stand up collar) that starts at the shoulder line, across the back and to the other shoulder line. This is also shaped with short rows, every other “all the way ridges”. Also the sections that fall down the arms at the shoulder line does not have any short rows in the body, (but they continue at the rise).

The sections that fall down the arms are 16 rows of a simple pattern.

Size is easily adjusted. Add or subtract 4 sts to change the length by an inch. To make it wider or slimmer add or subtract 8 rows (4 ridges) for each inch of change.
