Say “I do” to the Bridal Bodice, a knitted bralette pattern inspired by the romance of a wedding dress and the allure of the sea. With a rib pattern that flows into a shell-like fan, and a sweetheart neckline reminiscent of ocean waves, this design will transport you to uncharted waters. Bust darts are incorporated into the entrancing stitch pattern to enhance your curves and sculpt the bust with a timeless, feminine shape.

With the option to make this top in a 3x1 traveling rib pattern or in Stockinette Stitch with princess lines, the Bridal Bodice is as versatile as it is enchanting. You could even think about adding on a skirt to make it into a dress? Whether you’re making it for a special occasion or simply to feel like your most magical self, this whimsical pattern will bring out your inner Siren.

This pattern was inspired by my wedding dress that I made here ;)

Machine Requirements:

This design is for a standard gauge (4.5 mm) flat bed knitting machine with a ribber attachment. This ribbed version has a lot of transfers as well as short rows, so I would only recommend it if you are comfortable using your ribber. The pattern is filled with up close photos and descriptions of each step, so if you are up for the challenge I would encourage it! The plain version is also offered within the pattern as a simplified and much easier option, using the ribber for the bottom band, then only the main bed after that.

If you don’t have a ribber, I also have a version of this design that you can make using just a flat bed here. This design is also available as a hand knitting pattern here!

Construction:

The front and back of the bodice are each knitted separately from the bottom up, and then seamed together. The picot hem is then folded and seamed to the bodice. Lastly, the straps are added using custom placement. I used my SK840 and SRP60N ribber attachment to make this design, and used T4 on the main carriage and T1 on the ribber carriage to get the 3 x 1 ribbed gauge. Make sure to make a swatch with the yarn you are using on your machine to determine which dial numbers will get you the gauge.

Length Options:

There are 3 length options in the pattern, Short (Medium, Long) for a finished side length measurement of 6.25 (7.5, 8.75) in / 16 (19, 22) cm. This top is intended to fit as a crop top, and I would recommend choosing a length based on your underarm to natural waist measurement, or by measuring a crop top you like the length of.

Yardage & Sizing:

70 (385, 400, 415, 430, 445) (460, 475, 490, 505) yards / 340 (350, 365, 380, 395, 405) (420, 435, 450, 460) meters of Fingering Weight Yarn for the Medium Length, -/+ 20% for the Short/Long Length

to fit a 30.5 (32.5, 35, 37.5, 39.5, 42) (44.5, 47, 49, 51.5) in / 77 (83, 89, 95, 100, 107) (113, 119, 124, 131) cm Bust.
