This is a lovely, versatile design, using a Crochet Brioche Stitch technique. I fell in love with knitted brioche a few months ago, but am not such an advanced knitter so figured out my own crochet version!

This hat is one size fits all, the same hat that my pre-schooler wears also fits me. It stretches out to be longer, thanks to the stitches used, and the brim folds over easily to make it shorter, and warmer over the ears.

The instructions in the pattern do sound a bit complicated, but in practice it’s actually quite simple. Once you have been able to create the first set of decreases, the rest are all intuitive, you will be able to see exactly where you need to decrease.

There is also an extensive photo tutorial on how to create the stitch, and how to shape the hat.

Enjoy, don’t forget to add to your favourites, and share with your friends!
