I have wanted to design a pattern for advent calendars ever since I started designing but I never got around to it – that’s such a lot of knitting! I finally got there this year, with the most beautiful advent yarn from Luxury Yarns.

This shawl is perfect for mini-skeins, particularly Advent calendars that you have been looking for a project for!

The pattern is worked using double yarn over brioche lace stitches as well as standard brioche techniques. It is a great way to practise your brioche stitches until you have them perfect.

The pattern includes both written and charted brioche instructions.

The sample has been knit in a 24 x 20g 4ply mini skein set but there are other options for knitting this wrap:

  1. 960m of fingering weight yarn in each of two colours, where one colour is worked as the Main Colour and the other as the Contrast Colour throughout.
  2. Any combination of scrap fingering weight yarns where you have at least 8m of the yarn (to work one repeat of Rows 1 & 2).

Gauge
Measured over the brioche stitch pattern, after wet
blocking, laid flat and allowed to dry.
30 stitches and 20 rows to 10cm / 4ins.
