Using just 45–65 yards of yarn, this hat knits up in no time at all! It’s perfect for a last minute gift, or to whip up for yourself before going somewhere cold. The super bulky weight wool makes it as warm and cozy as can be.

The body is in a simple slip-stitch rib, with all the interest being added at the crown. Shaping is combined with a kind of lace patterning where the yarn overs are closed up by twisting them on the next round, leaving you with the texture pattern minus the holes.

As written, the smaller size uses approx 45 yards, the larger size approx 65 yards. You may choose to modify the length of either size but that will affect yardage required.

Green sample is 18” in Fluff of the Andes. Red sample is 20” in Alla Prima.
