My original design ~ ~ ~ ~ Brooklyn Star “granny-square” afghan pattern is my interpretation of an original throw I saw on a memorable trip to Brooklyn, NY. Worsted weight yarn is used in 12 beautiful shades. The afghan pictured was crocheted using Lion-Brand Wool-Ease, which is a machine washable blend of acrylic and wool. It can also be crocheted with any worsted-weight yarn; Berroco “Weekend” is another good choice.

The Star design of each motif is easily mastered by a crocheter who has some experience with granny square techniques. Step-by-step instructions and photos are included in the download with some suggested time-saving techniques of my own. Each motif is edged with two colors and assembled between smaller circles in a pleasing-to-the-eye pattern. A color placement guide is included for finishing the project.
