An easy and fun hat to make in 4 color cotton striping. This high top bucket hat pattern can also be crocheted in sport wool for a winter hat. The gauge changes slightly when working with woolen yarns instead of cotton because wool has more stretch and the number of stitches per inch can therefore be greater. Adjustments to accommodate this are provided in the instructions.

The circumference of the hat around the crown is about 54 cm (21 inches) to fit a two to four year old child.

The high top bucket hat is a perfect project for using up stash. Choose 4 colors that look good together and use striping sequences suggested or invent your own.

Young children need comfortable hats with brims to protect their eyes from glare and their soft, delicate skin from excessive sun.

The hat can easily be adapted to an adult size by using cotton yarn with the instructions for the kid’s woolen version.
