This cable band pattern has instructions for both a headband (requiring less than 100 yds) and a beanie.

This beanie provides a snug fit for an adult, and may fit on adolescents.

The headband portion is knit first and is complete in and of itself. The body portion is created by picking up stitches, in a unique manner, from one edge of the headband.
