I created this pattern (while on vacation at the ocean), for my sister-in-law who sits beneath an air conditioning vent at work.

She requested something that would keep her neck warm, as she has a short hairdo, but something that would still be lightweight.

I found the yarn at an Art Co-op, while on vacation. As I was working on this pattern, I was reminded of the waves I was hearing. And that was the inspiration for the name.

The design is such that the front does not come up on the neck. However, if you want a “dickie” cowl, just keep working the ribbing in the round and do not use Chart 3. But remember it will use up a little more yarn.
