The Cabriolet (French for “convertible”) is a stylish starter project for trying out brioche. Worked in the round with chunky yarns, this two color project is a fast and versatile knit that can be a headband or a hat—your choice!

Pattern includes special instructions for extra stretchy cast on and bind off that not only works particularly well for the brioche rib headband, they also mirror each other.

Materials:
Malabrigo Yarns MECHA (130yds/100g, 100% merino): 1 skein ea in color Polar Morn (LC) and Cereza (DC)
(Alternate Yarns: Cascade Yarns CASCADE 128 (128yds/100g, 100% merino): 1 skein ea in color 8001 Natural (LC) and 900 Charcoal (DC)

Actual yardage needed:
Headband: 45 yd LC, 35 yd DC.
Hat: Additional 70 yd of LC or DC.

Size 7 (4.5mm) 16” circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge (OPTIONAL: two circulars or a 40” circular for a magic loop)
Size 2 (2.75mm) needles for Chained Cast On.
Stitch marker.
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends.

For hat option:
