This is a big cuddly koala cushion, quick to knit in aran yarn.

I made my koala in blue shades, but you can use a more traditional grey for your koala if you wish.

ABOUT THE PATTERN: The pattern has row numbers for each step so you don’t lose your place, instructions for making the koala, a list of abbreviations and a materials list. The pattern is 3 pages and written in English.

TECHNIQUES: All pieces are knitted flat (back and forth) on a pair of straight knitting needles. You need to know how to knit, purl, increase and decrease, change colour at the end of a row to knit stripes and do some seaming.

  • A pair of straight 5.5mm knitting needles (US 9)
  • Aran weight (worsted, 10 ply) acrylic yarn; less than 50g in each colour
  • Toy filling
  • Buttons for eyes
  • Black yarn to embroider claws and mouth
