In Maine, a “camp” is a rustic cabin on a lake or in the woods - the perfect place to settle by the fire and knit! This cardigan features a patterned yoke and bottom band with a fun mix of ribbing, garter stitch, and 1/1 cables. It’ll be your go- to outdoor sweater for warmth and North Wood’s style.

This is an engaging pattern for the experienced knitter. The construction is nearly seamless, with top-down set-in sleeves picked up from the armholes and worked with short row caps. The pattern is 8 pages long and includes 7 sizes, a full schematic, and charts for pattern areas. If you prefer not to work from charts, an additional 4 page pdf of the written out directions for the pattern areas should be downloaded when you download your pattern. The pattern has had all sizes test knit and has been professionally tech edited to be clear and free of errors.

I have 2 other patterns with a matching motif: “Cam’s Camping Socks” and “Hunting Season Hat”. Bring them all to camp!

Sizes: Women’s sizes: XS (S, M, L) (XL, 1X, 2X). These are approximate - choose size based on finished bust measurement below - including your desired amount of ease.

Finished Bust Measurements:
35 (38, 40 3/4, 43 1/2) (46 1/2, 49 1/4, 52) in/ 89 (96.5, 103.5, 110.5) (118, 125, 132) cm. Designed to be worn as an outer layer with approximately 2-4 in/ 5-10 cm or more of positive ease. Sample shown is a size L worn with 5 in/ 12.5 cm of ease.

Gauge: 17 sts and 27 rows/4 in/ 10cm over stockinette stitch.

What You Need:
✦ Briggs and Little Heritage (100% wool; 215yds/196m per 4 oz/113g skein); color: #20 - evergreen; 5 (5, 6, 6) (7, 7, 7) skeins. Or 924 (1037, 1117, 1194) (1301, 1391, 1496) yds/ 848 (951, 1024, 1095) (1193, 1275, 1372) m of a similar aran weight or heavy worsted weight yarn.
✦ Circular needle at least 32 in/ 80cm long (Largest sizes may be more comfortable on a longer needle) in size required to obtain gauge. I used US #6/ 4mm. You may need a size or two above or below that.
✦ 16 in/ 40 cm circular needle in same size as above.
✦ 1 set of dpns in same size as above.
✦ 7 - 3/4 in/ 2cm diameter buttons
✦ scrap yarn for holding sts and marking button placements
✦ Large-eyed tapestry needle
✦ One cable needle
✦ 3 stitch markers - in 2 different colors
✦ Optional: two clip-on style markers or safety pins to help with short rows.

Pattern Notes: The body of the sweater is worked from the bottom up in one piece back and forth in rows to the armholes, then split into back and two front sections. Shoulders are seamed and then sleeves are worked top-down, with sleeve cap stitches picked up around armholes and shaped with short rows. Neck and front bands are picked up and knit at the end.
