This vest is designed to be a flattering wardrobe staple. Subtle waist shaping makes a large impact due to its
placement at the interface of the ribbed side panels. With
integral armhole and front bands there is no picking up
stitches, and the construction is almost seamless.(Neckband
is seamed to back of neck.) You’ll want to make one in
The pattern is 7 pages long and has been test knit and professionally tech edited. It comes in 7 sizes based on finished bust measurement: 34 (38, 42, 46, 50, 54, 58) in/ 86.5 (96.5, 107, 117, 127, 137, 148) cm. Choose your size based on the look desired - this vest looks great with 0 to 4” of ease. The model in the first photo is wearing hers with 3” of positive ease.
This is a very flattering vest on women of all sizes! If you want to customize your fit to accommodate your own unique figure, the pattern includes a page of helpful hints, as well as some additional measurements to supplement those included on the schematic, to help you when modifying this design.
You can make this vest with just 3 (3, 4, 4, 4, 4, 5) skeins of Briggs and Little Heritage. If you choose another aran or worsted weight yarn make sure you swatch and get both stitch and row gauge. Accurate row gauge is very important in this design.
In addition to your yarn, you will need:
✦1 US #6/ 4mm circular needle, at least 40 in/100cm long (longer needle recommended for larger sizes)
Or size needed to obtain gauge.
✦ optional: 1pair US #6/ 4mm straight needles, or a shorter circular needle, for use when working sections with fewer stitches.
✦ 1 extra needle of similar size for use in three needle bind off.
✦ Large eyed tapestry needle, 4 stitch markers, scrap yarn for holding stitches.
✦ 5 (5, 5, 5, 6, 6, 6) buttons, approx. 0.75 in/ 2
