This pattern was originally made for people doing fund raising walks for cancer research, or for anyone who wants to show their support while on the go. Carry your water hands free so you can stay hydrated without needing to carry a bottle of water in your hand.

There is some stretch and give in the knit, so it will fit a variety of standard water bottle sizes, but if you like a big bottle, you can add a few more stitches on either side of each ribbon.

Feel free to share the pattern, and knit them for whatever reason. It’s all yours! The pattern also includes a link to a website that lists what colour ribbons are used for a wide variety of types of cancer so you can customise your knit for something meaningful to you.

I have included instructions for both knitting in the round, for those who are comfortable for that, or straight knitting for those who would rather knit it and then seam it. I use iCord for the handle, but you can do crochet or garter stitch or anything else with which you are comfortable.
