This is an intermediate pattern (although an adventurous beginner may find this a fun challenge).

This pattern uses four colors-three of which are contrasting colors and one is a main color. In my sample my yarn was as follows:

Main Color: 240 yards
Color A: 195 yards
Color B: 98 yards
Color C: 105 yards

You will use more or less depending on your gauge. Feel free to use larger needles for a little more of an airy look (I do tend to knit loosely-so I actually suggest you do so if you are a tight knitter).

I suggest solid colors or very slight color variations if they are variegated.

This pattern was named for the feeling one gets at the carnival. The lights, the sounds, the distractions are so fun and random. You feel yourself pulled one way, and then see something else and must run that way….You feel like a child, no matter your age…Oh look! COTTON CANDY! You feel your heart skip a beat as you skip to the Ferris Wheel….Oh look! The fishy game! I wanted that feeling when you knit and wear this shawl. There is a random feel to it, just when you think it might do one thing, OOPS another happens. I hope you find it as fun to make and wear as I do! I feel it is my magic shawl that makes me feel like I am 13 again, and at the carnival, waiting for the Tilt-o-Whirl.

This was the first time I ever hosted an MKAL-and I had such an amazing time watching the amazing talent on Ravelry create such unique pieces of wearable art. I thank you all who participated and made this so much fun for me! And my wonderful testers…I cannot thank you enough-without you there would be no lights at the carnival! ♥♥
