A HEAD FOR FASHION is a 6-pattern collection for sale as both a mini e-book and as individual patterns. Each project is inspired by a famous female fashion designer who was active during the Roaring Twenties.

Starting Nov. 1, 2014 you can purchase the HEAD FOR FASHION e-book mini-collection OR the individual patterns on both Ravelry and on my website: http://www.julieturjoman.com.

Parisian milliner and clothing designer Caroline Reboux did some of her best work during the 1920s. Known as the “Queen of the Milliners,” she is credited with creating the cloche, the trademark hat style of the Roaring Twenties. Employing as many as 150 women at a time to sew her designs, at the height of her success she had shops in Paris and London as well as in major U.S. cities. In addition, Reboux popularized a new version of the toque called the ‘Gigolo.’ These highly original hats featured tall sides with an irregular crease at the top. In this example, the unique shape relies on Short-Row shaping for the abbreviated brim, I-Cord trim, and applied fabric leaves for sculptural interest. On a blustery autumn day, its stylish warmth will flatter the modern knitter as much as it would the most fashion-conscious flapper.
