Celtaidd scarf knitting pattern was designed by me especially to use Cartref Yarn. The sample in the pictures uses two skeins (200g) of the Fforest colourway.

‘Celtaidd’ is Welsh for Celtic. Having grown up in Wales, I’ve been surrounded by Celtic knots and images that have in turn inspired the design of this scarf. Almost everywhere you go in Wales you will find Celtic insignia on stonework, jewellery and on carved Welsh wooden Lovespoons, to name but a few examples.

The pattern is customiseable as to length, although please bear in mind that a longer scarf will need more yarn!

Materials required:
• Approximately 200g Cartref (DK) yarn (Colourway used is Fforest), 205m/225 yards per 100g.
• 4.5mm/US 7 needles or size needed to get gauge.
• Cable needle.
• Two stitch markers to mark the six border stitches at either end of the row (optional).
• Blocking wires and mats (optional but recommended).

Gauge: Gauge in moss stitch is 19 sts and 26 rows to 10cm/4”. Gauge doesn’t need to be exact as it is not a fitted garment. It is more important that you like the feel of the finished fabric.

The cable section is both charted and written.
