Every summer of my childhood, we would make the long, hot drive from central Virginia to the beaches of South Carolina. The trip had an oddly Mexican theme: South of the Border in North Carolina (my dad refused to stop at such a blatant “tourist trap” no matter how much we begged), a Mexican grocery store with all signs in Spanish in a small North Carolina town, and a tiny, forgotten village along one of Dad’s famous shortcuts called Cerro Gordo. We still visit the beach once a year, usually in the fall, and no longer take the routes that go by South of the Border or Cerro Gordo, but now we always stop at a travel plaza on the way that has a big stack of colorful Mexican blankets for sale. We’ve picked up several over the years; they’re inexpensive and useful and I’m always tempted by pretty color combinations to buy yet another.

Colorwork is charted only. A blanket-stitch tutorial is included in a separate pdf.
