Carrying around a chessboard can be a real pain for the chess enthusiast, so why not wear one? This scarf splits a chessboard into two halves. Wrap it around your neck as a warm fashion accessory, then put the two halves together to break into a game!
The pattern is very easy for the beginner knitter, just simple garter stitch with some color changes. As long as your squares are between 2 and 2½“, don’t stress gauge too much! Twist and tie your color changes on the wrong side of the scarf, then weave in after you’re done.
This scarf is done in a classic black-and-white pattern, but you can play around and do light and dark browns as well!
