This pattern was inspired by the colorway we chose. Every time I looked at the color I thought of chickens. Specifically, I thought of Barred Plymouth Rock chickens. You should look up the breed and see if you are reminded of this color too!

In any case, I decided that the only way to make these socks was as “chicken little” socks with eggs and lace ribs that reminded me of chicken scratchings.

This pattern is meant for an adventurous novice to intermediate knitter. Please read the entire pattern before beginning.

Yarn: 2 skeins Think Bamboo Superwash Sock Yarn, 224 yards, 40% Wool, 45% Rayon from Bamboo, 15% Nylon, color 9910
Needle: US 1 (2.25 mm) Signature Steel Double Pointed Needles (DPNs) or needles to obtain gauge

Gauge: 8.5 stitches per inch (spi) and 12 rows per inch (rpi) OR 34 stitches & 48 rows to 4 inches/10 cm in stockinette

Size: To fit a US women’s 8.5-9 shoe, approx. 8.5” circumference and 9” foot

To alter the size: Adjust your gauge to increase or decrease the circumference of the foot as needed.
