ERRATA:
In Stripe Pattern, Row 2 should read:
Row 2 (RS): With B, purl. Turn work.

Breakdown of yardages for the smallest and largest sizes (this is from the pattern): color A (first color cast on): (400 yd sz 32: 810 yd sz 52); color B--next color cast on: (325 yd sz 32: 550yd sz 52): color C (top color): (225 yd sz 32: 400 yd sz 52).

When I pass a working port or see a container ship, a large portion of the containers are always the green of the China Shipping company. Some are new, but others are older and show signs of rust and corrosion. The colors and speckled stripes of this cardigan remind me of these containers, distinct in every huge shipyard.

I chose Bugga! colors specifically for this look: Canada Darner, Owl Moth, and Blue Duke. Stay tuned to the Verdant Gryphon blog for a special release of these colors.

The body of this cardigan is worked back and forth in one piece to the underarms, where the back and fronts are split and worked separately. The sleeves are worked flat and seamed. The collar edging is picked up and worked after the shoulder seams are sewn and the sleeves are set in.

The striped pattern is created using slipped stitches, so only one color is used per row.
