Chinese calligraphy is in itself an art form. Its fluid lines and sweeping designs are lovely to look at and represent many different words, sentiments, virtues, and so forth. I have taken some of the more popular ones and made a set of six designs that can be used together or separately.

Included in this great set of charted designs are “Best Wishes” (38 sts wide by 46 sts high), “Happy Birthday” (21 sts wide by 44 sts high), “Forever” (35 sts wide by 41 sts high), “Friendship” (31 sts wide by 43 sts high), “Good Luck” (35 sts wide by 35 sts high), and Long Life“ (36 sts wide by 41 sts high).

You can incorporate any or all of these designs into your knitting projects. I used “Long Life” on the pictured pillow using Jojoland Rhythm as the background and Jojoland Baritone as the black symbol. Please note that the pillow pattern may be purchased separately and is not included in this set of patterns. The charted symbol for “Long Life” is, however, included in this set of six designs.

You can knit the designs into your project as you go or you can duplicate stitch the calligraphy after your project is finished. One of my customers adopted a baby from China. She used the “Happy Birthday” design on one of the baby’s little sweaters!

If you haven’t worked with charts before, don’t be afraid! I am available for knitting help via e-mail.

Just to let you know that I know what I am doing - I was a cross stitch designer before I became a knitting designer!
