This little Chirpy Bird lives in a basket nest. This would make a lovely Easter gift, or you could knit these birds as Christmas decorations: try brown and red for a little robin, or black and white for a penguin.

Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, the toys are knitted in acrylic DK yarns on single pointed needles (not in the round).

NEEDLES
A pair of 3.5mm single pointed knitting needles (US 4)

RECOMMENDED YARN
Sirdar Hayfield Bonus DK; double knitting/light worsted weight; 100% acrylic; less than 25g in each colour.

NOTIONS
Tapestry needle, toy filling, and beads for eyes.

SIZES
One size only - The bird is 6.5cm tall and the basket is 7cm diameter.

TECHNIQUES
For confident beginners and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, and seaming to finish.
