About the pattern

This pattern is 16 pages and the written instructions are accompanied with 26 photographs and 7 dual colour knitting charts.

The photos in this pattern are of stockings that were knitted with a set of 5  double pointed knitting needles, but the written instructions are easy to apply to a set of 4 double pointed knitting needles.

Sizing

With 8mm knitting needles the finished products will measure approx 43-45 cm/ 17-17 3/4 inch from the base of the hanging loop to the tip of the toe. See display photos for more information.

Skill level 

Easy - Intermediate 

The pattern consists of basic knitting stitches and techniques: stocking stitch = knit & purl, knitting in the round as well as some easy shaping. Basic crochet stitches: sc/dc, chain and slip stitch.

The Fair Isle Stocking includes knitting with two colours at the same time. 

Tools and Materials

None of the following is included:

  • 8mm double pointed knitting needles
  • 8mm crochet hook / L/11 crochet hook
  • Darning needle/Tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  • Stitch holder 
  • Super chunky/super bulky yarn. Around 110 meter/ 120 yards per stocking. More information in the pattern.
