This pillow is built out of squares that are then whipstitched together (or you can join them using the joining method of your choice.)

The pillow coordinates with a Christmas tree blanket that’s made using the same squares.

Free patterns for the squares are also available, and you’re welcome to use the squares for creating other types of projects if you wish.

Both of these squares are part of a series of mix and match afghan squares that are all designed to be the same gauge and size. So if you don’t happen to like the checkerboard, for example, you could easily substitute a different square in its place.
