Are you looking for a quick little crochet adventure that’s like a journey back to fun? Then this is the project for you!

Just one skein of self-striping yarn such as Uneek Worsted will result in a quirky little piece that’s easy and fun to make - you might even find that the color changes keep you going until you’ve finished the whole thing in a single afternoon!

Not sure about those mitered rows? Not to worry! I’ve got you covered with detailed written instructions, a photo tutorial, AND a video tutorial! So come play with color with me and knock out this cute little cowl just in time for those cooler temperatures that are … eventually coming, right?

The pattern also includes guidance on modifications to customize your fit as well as some ideas for additional closure options. As modeled it’s simply pinned at two corners with two buttons tied together (on large focal button and one just barely small enough to fit through the spaces between the double crochet stitches) but it can also be sewn together for a fully circular cowl - just make sure it will go over your head!

Psst, there’s a sister pattern, too! Check out the Chroma Story Scarf for a two-skein project.

  • Single crochet
  • Double crochet
  • Foundation single crochet (optional)
  • Chainless double crochet (optional)

Finished measurements after blocking = 9.5” (24 cm) wide by 23.5” (60 cm) long.
