I love the look of a cable blanket. I have seen several patterns that I like, but it seems that they always turned out to be a knit pattern. I decided to try and practice cable patterns that I could crochet. This is the pattern that I came up with to crochet my Chunky Cable Blankets in my shop. I currently have a winter white one and a pretty blue one.

This is a very dense, thick and heavy blanket with each cable measuring approximately six inches in width. You can use size 5 or 6 bulky yarn. I used size 6 Lions Brand bulky yarn in the blankets I made. For the blanket to have the same large, deep cables you will need to use two strands of bulky yarn held together throughout this pattern. It will take approximately 22-25 skeins of yarn or 1750- 2000 yards to crochet a blanket measuring approximately 50” wide X 66” long. (The measurements and yarn amount are not exact because not everyone has the same tension or skill level.)
