This is a pattern written specially for sari silk yarn or banana yarn.

If you’ve used these yarns before you’ll know that even the best quality ones can be variable from sport weight to bulky.
I find it easiest to use them with around an 8mm hook so I think of them as ‘chunky’ but this is really just a guide, use whatever hook you feel works best with the yarn you have.

This is why the gauge is approximate.
Even with the pattern to guide you, you may find you need to experiment a bit.
As long as your starting chain can be doubled and easily popped over your head then you’ll be fine.
You may need to adjust the number of stitches (by increments of 2) if it comes out way too big or small but that’s unlikely.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me, I love to help and encourage those who want to use and wear these beautiful yarns as I struggled when I first discovered them to find any help or advice on how to use them / what they work up as nicely etc.

I used 3x40yd(approx) skeins to make the ones in the pictures but you can make it with just two skeins if you miss out a couple of rows.

Sari yarn is definitely not for the faint hearted, but it IS fabulously beautiful and absolutely delicious to wear, so with a little bit of ‘have a go’ attitude from you and email support from me there’s really nothing to stop you from trying it :)

If you only have one skein and are wondering what the heck you can do with it then see my pattern The Simplest Scarf In The World

All my patterns are available on ravelry, or in my etsy shop where I offer one free pattern per transaction when you buy any of my sari silk or banana/silk yarns see MandalaYarn.com

If you have any questions or ideas about sari silk yarns and banana yarns in general we’d love to hear from you over at recycled sari silk creations so pop on by for a chat :D
