These short, close-fitting fingerless mitts feature a big, relaxed cable on the back of the hand.

To fit hand circumference up 8” (20 cm)

Worked from cuff towards fingers, with an afterthought thumb.

The mitts were designed to be knitted from under 115 m of yarn (which corresponds to just one 50 g ball of the DK-weight alpaca yarn originally used). They incorporate several features to ensure that they work well with alpaca yarn, though one consequence of this is that they look decidedly skimpy when off the hand! To draw in the fabric of the mitt and help it keep its shape, there is two by two ribbing on the palm side and a large cable on the back of the hand. Decreases are made at the finger opening to reduce the risk of sag in that area.
