I love collaborating with and being inspired by friends. Color me Joyful was inspired by some fun fabric by Rick of Whimzeestitches ran across on his shopping adventure and my love of color work. He did an amazing job sourcing a fantastic yarn base and the colors he dyed up to match the fabric are perfection!

The hat is knit in the round without decreases. It has a three-needle bind off at the top and features an origami-style envelope closure for an interesting and tidy finish.

I used the book 200 Fair Isle Motifs, A Knitter’s Directory by Mary Jane Mucklestone as a source for my motifs.

Yarn:
Any 5 mini skeins of fingering weight yarn with about 78 yards for a total of 390 yards. I used a gorgeous mini skein set by Whimzeestitches on Rick’s Deluxe Sock base for the hat pictured in the pattern.

Needles:
Size two (2.75mm) needle for the brim and size three (3.25mm) needle for the remainder of the hat.

Sizing:
There are three hat sizes. The small hat will fit a head circumference of 16-17 inches, the medium hat will fit a head circumference of 19-20 inches, and the largest size will fit a head circumference of 22-23 inches.
