This pattern is easy enough for a confident beginner, with each mitered square building on the previous mitered squares. The kimono is a loose, one-size-fits-most piece (please note that the pattern is missing the gauge due to a formatting error; it is 5 sts/inch, but really not critical to the finished garment as long as you are close).

The design arose out of my fascination with the color spectrum, and evolved from there - as an 11 year old pointed out to me, it’s like a multiplication table, but with colors. You will need one skein each of the ten different colors, and 2 skeins of black. I chose Brown Sheep yarn for this design because a) they have 80 colors to choose from in NatureSpun, and b) Brown Sheep yarns are very reasonably priced.

Color Study Kimono may also be purchased as a kit; see my blog for details.
