Colour Blocks
by Sylvia Cosh
“With a more adventurous use of colour, the basic sweater becomes a unique, designer-style garment. Although this effect looks quite complex, it is contrived very simply by changing yarns at set ponts along every other row, working a sequence of colours based on your colour strip. Alternate rows are worked in only one yarn, giving a horizontal continuity to the design. Neat colour changes help to define the pattern.
A total of 550 - 800 g assorted yarns, all approximately double knitting weight, including mohair, chenille, and smooth wool. Finer yarns can be used double, or stranded with other yarns, to bring them us to a suitable weight.”
