On the heels of my other Doctor Who inspired sock patterns (Rescue Me, Chin Boy, and Show Me the Stars, Socks For Ten, and Spoilers Socks), I am super excited to have collaborated with Julia of Pandia’s Jewels on a series of 3 more Doctor Who inspired sock patterns. This second pattern is inspired by the snarky but loveable Doctor Who companion, Amy Pond.

These socks are mirror images of each other. The aptly named Pandorica and Manhattan cables on the outside of the sock were chosen because they look like two hands holding on to each other (bringing to mind the important line, “Come Along Pond”). The main design element is flowers reminiscent of the sunflowers from one of my favourite Amy-centric episodes, Vincent and the Doctor.

Come Along Pond! Happy Knitting!

These socks are knit using the magic loop method (although the purchaser could easily adapt it for two circulars or double points).

Judy’s Magic Cast On and Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off are used in this pattern.

The knitter needs to be comfortable with the following techniques: knit, purl, KFB, Ktbl, p2tog, ssk, M1R, M1L, cables, slipping stitches both knitwise and purlwise, and working with yarn held in front / working with yarn held in back. Instructions for all these techniques are included in the pattern.

This pattern includes instructions in both written and chart forms for 64 stitch and 72 stitch socks.

I’d like to express my immense gratitude to the creators of Doctor Who for their entertaining work. This design would never have been possible without their inspiration.

Huge thanks to my amazing test knitters: Amy (knitnmom), Andrea (angeiship), Ashleah (a1dawen), Barb (outallday), Cristy (cristyray), Julia (nimruse), Tracy (phoenixfire), and Vanessa (butterflyjones07). ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
