Continuing my fascination with the Gilded Age and Roaring Twenties hat fashions, this cloche is inspired by Consuelo Vanderbilt (yes, those Vanderbilts), an American heiress who conquered all of uppercrust England when she married the 8th Duke of Marlborough. She was painted by the most famous portrait artists of her day, and wrote an autobiography, The Glitter & The Gold, about her life as a duchess.

This cloche, with its asymmetrical textured band and slightly flared brim, will flatter the modern knitter as well as it would have the stylish Consuelo.

NOTE: The silk ribbon flower pin shown on this sample is NOT included in the pattern.
