The socks pictured were knit with embroidery floss because I didn’t have any sock yarn in the colors I wanted.

Allow 2 skeins of embroidery floss for the dog, plus whatever color you use for ears & nose.

Allow 2 skeins of white for the cow. Black is less than a full skein. Pink is a small amount.

Neither pattern will use the entire amount of floss, but both will use more than 1 full skein.

Fingering weight yarn, tapestry wool, perl cotton … all would work fine in these patterns.
