In the winter, I like to get extra hot drinks. Hot to the point where, if it were any hotter, the milk would literally explode. In the summer, I dump ice into my drinks. I noticed, however, that my coffee or tea would get cold much too quickly. I noticed that my iced coffee or tea would become water that was slightly flavored with coffee or tea.

So I came up with this pattern. It keeps hot drinks hot for longer than those wee cup sleeves they give you. It keeps the ice from melting quickly. It also keeps your hands warm and condensation-free!

The yarn absorbs some of the heat, acting like a winter hat for your cup. This way it keeps your hands nice and warm. Even with a stainless steel, double-walled cup it keeps your hands from freezing to the outside of your cup!

The yarn also keeps the condensation from pruning your fingers. Since it’s so close to the cup, the yarn wicks away the moister to keep your hands dry. It also protects your fingers from icy cups with blended drinks in them.

These Cozy Cup Coasters will fit most Large cups, including Starbucks Venti hot and iced drinks.

The pattern includes a photo tutorial on how to create a Magic Ring. It also has photos throughout the pattern to show some of the steps.

A larger hook will create a larger Cozy Coaster. A smaller hook will create a smaller Cozy Coaster. Any worsted yarn will work. I used Caron Simply Soft yarns in Soft Pink and Kelly Green.
