One set of numbers is given, but tighter gauge (16 sts = 4” in St st) results in smaller size.

This unisex hat is a quick and fairly easy knit and lends itself to a self-striping bulky yarn. Center double decreases form an ‘X’ on the top of the crown. There is an inner headband around the ears for added warmth. Two options are given for the side tails: traditional braids (red version) and macrame-style square knots (black/gray version). Chart is included for tying the tails in square knots. Both tails are i-cords and both versions feature attached i-cord around the ear flaps, front and back. Outer Shell uses a crocheted chain provisional cast on. Unzipping the chain allows for the ear flaps to be added seamlessly and the remaining live sts will be worked into the i-cord edging.
