Crevetten - Bohus Stickning Inspired

Crevetten (The Shrimp) pattern card recipe for a kofta (cardigan) was designed by Annika Malmström-Bladini sometime during the 1950s. The pattern card shown in Bohus Stickning the Revival on p. 24 is for a yoke sweater with a white body. The garment was also available with an apricot or coral main color as shown in the DigitaltMuseum from the collection of the Bohusläns museum.

Projects knitted using the Crevetten pattern card are “Bohus Stickning inspired” projects. They cannot be called “Bohus Stickning” projects, as they do not meet following 3 criteria: they must be knitted in the colors re-created by Solveig Gustafsson and/or Pernille Silfverberg based on the original Bohus Stickning colour cards, they must be knitted in the required quality of the yarn (lace, 2ply, angora/merino 600m/100g or Lambswool 450m/100g) and of course they must be knitted fully using a Bohus Stickning pattern.

Refer for disambiguation to the article “A Cultural Achievement” in the book ” Bohus Stickning på nytt The Revival” on page 51.

There are several black-and-white photos of Eartha Kitt wearing Crevetten in 1960 in Stockholm, probably during a press conference…1 and 2 for example.
