Crocuses are one of my favorite flowers. The sight of their colorful buds pushing through the snow is a welcome reminder that warmer weather and longer days are on the way. I was thrilled to find such a lovely image of a crocus to work with. The lace on the sock echoes the clean, simple lines of the crocus flower. They are, perhaps, a bit too lacy for the chilliest of early spring days. But if you’re anything like me, the weather will have warmed just enough by the time you’re finished knitting them. The mitts offer something closer to instant gratification. Their simple shape and easy lace (inspired by the dramatic shape of the leaves) are quick to work while their length makes them just perfect for keeping your hands comfortable on cool days.
