There’s a serious shortage of interesting and fun knitting patterns for guys. This sweater is the second pattern in my “Dave’s Manly” series - a collection growing as my husband tells me what he wants to wear, and I design it for him. This time, Dave wanted a comfortable pullover, with some texture; dressy enough for the office, but cozy for weekend wear too.

The pattern is simple. Back and front are worked in pieces from the bottom up. The shoulders are joined, and sides seamed. Stitches for the sleeves are picked up and worked in the round.

Malabrigo Mecha was the perfect yarn choice - bulky for a fast knit, and so soft I could barely get him to take it off for blocking. The rich silver color with dark undertones show the texture beautifully.

This sweater is reversible - with ribbed lines prominent on the reverse. But you may wish to pick your preferred “right side out” before weaving in ends. See the last two photos for images of the sweater reversed.

My husband is 6’5”, so I also include instructions for “tall” sizes. Add one extra skein of yarn if knitting the tall size.
