Early morning at the grocery store? No problem! This cabled beanie is completely reversible, perfect for running out the door. ;)

Suggested Yarn:
100 grams of a bulky-weight superwash wool, such as:
Cascade 128 Superwash
(100% wool, 128 yards/117 m per 100g skein)
Malbrigo Mecha
(100% Merino wool, 130 yds/119 m per 100g skein)

Suggested Needles:
For both Cascade 128 & Malabrigo Mecha:
US 8/5 mm 16 in/40 cm circular needles
Cascade 128 only:
US 11/8 mm 16 in/40 cm circular needles
US 11/8 mm double-pointed needles
Malabrigo Mecha only:
US 10.5/6.5 mm 16 in/40 cm circular needles
US 10.5/6.5 mm double-pointed needles

Notions: Stitch markers, cable needle or hook, yarn needle, & balloon

Finished Measurements:
Samples measured approx 17 in/43 cm unstretched, after blocking with about 2-3 in/5-8 cm of negative ease.

Fit: This hat has what I like to call a “Roomy beanie” fit. The brim hugs your ears, and there is a bit of room on top, but not enough to be considered “Slouchy”.
This pattern does include notes on yarn behavior and blocking, so you can adjust the fit to your preference.

Skill Level: Adventurous beginner, capable of reading charts, or at least willing to try/learn.

-As noted in the pattern, many superwash yarns have a tendency to “grow” in the blocking process. This is especially the case with Cascade 128, and even Malabrigo Mecha. You are going to have to put your hat in a delicates bag, and toss it in the dryer to bring it back down to size. Alternatively, this gives you a lot of wiggle room size-wise for making adjustments. If this is something that might bother you, then I suggest you use a non-superwash yarn, but keep in mind that you may not have as much flexibility with sizing your hat; since this hat is quite fitted before blocking.
