As shown, this cowl is double layered but single wrap (width folded). Although instructions are written for making this exact cowl (worked flat diagonally and joined at ends to create circular cowl), pattern can be used to make a piece any width and length you want.

You could make it longer for a stole/wrap or narrower and longer for a scarf and simply skip the joining. Or, if you prefer a cowl that is this same width when worn but layered by wrapping as opposed to folding, you could make it half the width and twice the length.

Pattern includes notes for adjusting length/width and for using any weight yarn.
