Detour is a blanket worked in rows around three sides of a central strip. It can be made with two colors of yarn or with one yarn that has long colors run or tying together scraps of yarn to form a magic ball. In the two color version, you change colors every row and carry the yarn along the side so there are only four ends to weave in. My prototype blanket was made using about 1,610 yards of DK weight yarn with a size H crochet hook. The finished blanket measured 35” wide x 43” long. It can be made any size with any weight of yarn by changing the hook size to suit the yarn. The four page pattern has both written line-by-line instructions and two crochet charts.
