I designed this shawlette inspired in Costa Rica’s tropical weather where it gets cold or hot from one city to another during all year, and were watermelons are all-year-season fruits.

--This is the first of a Tropical Fruitable collection, more fruits are going to be yarn-harvested soon--.

I used Lara 5 (1 ball of each color) and worked with 7 mm & 8 mm needles, but you can use different needle sizes according to your material (yes, you can use left over yarns or those you bouhgt and don’t know what to kint yet).

This pattern includes suggestions for working with different yarn weights and fiber sources! -Here in the main info appears The Meriwool and Lion Brand Wool Ease chunky, to mention some -.

It also have indications for making a larger shawl than mine.

To complete the watermelon slice, embroider some seeds!

TO MAKE YOUR OWN GAUGE:
Cast on 15 stitches and work in stockinette stitch for 10 rows, then meassure 10 cmx10cm.
If it’s too lose for you, use smaller needles; if it’s too tight, change to bigger needles.
