Bias knitting creates a fabric that can be very stretchy, so this scarf has a narrow garter edge to minimize this stretchy characteristic a bit. The alternating colors technique can cause one edge to have much less give than the other, so care must be taken to prevent this from happening.

While seed stitch can be very slow, the alternating colors and the self striping yarn makes this project interesting from start to finish. It is fun to watch how the colors pair up as you go. No two scarves knit with the same colors will look the same. I personally recommend you always knit from the outside of a ball of yarn, but carefully scrutinize the colors of your two balls of yarn. Try to predict how the colors will match up pulling from either end, and choose the technique you think will result in a pattern you will like the most.

This is more of an intermediate level project because of the striping and the bias, but a confident beginner should be able to learn the techniques.
