With this design, the dinosaur’s body contains the egg which then contains the baby dinosaur! It is designed to involve as little sewing as possible - the baby is made in one piece and on the adult dinosaur the body and legs are made in one piece, so the only sewing involved is to attach the neck and tail to the body.

This pattern is 11 pages long and includes the instructions for the adult dinosaur, as well as for the baby and its egg. It contains loads of photos to help you every step of the way and it is written in American crochet terms.

You will need:

Yarn of your choice. Yarn weight doesn’t really matter - the size of your project will simply turn out bigger or smaller! I used Patons Smoothie DK Yarn (this is quite a thick DK yarn so it is equivalent to aran or light worsted weight in other brands) and my finished dinosaur measures approx 25cm long and 16cm tall.

For the adult dinosaur you will need the following colours:
Light green & dark green.

For the baby & egg you will need the following colours:
Beige or cream, light green.

A suitable size hook for the yarn you have chosen - I used a 4mm hook.

Toy stuffing.

Black finer yarn or embroidery thread for adding the facial details.

A pair of 12mm black eyes.

2 small buttons for fastening both the egg & the dinosaur’s body.

Other tools you will need are a tapestry needle, some scissors and a stitch marker. You will also need a needle and thread for attaching the buttons.
