After I made the doll kitty cat hats, which you can find HERE, I decided it would be really fun for my dolly girls to have a matching play suit to go along with the hats, which I think turned out really cute. I purposely made the suit in two versions, but the only difference is in regards to the color changes around the neckline and on the shoulders, as you can see in the pictures. Everything else stays the same.

I believe this project is suited well for an intermediate knitter; however, you need to be familiar with the duplicate stitch. If you do not have any experience with this method, please look up a tutorial.

I would also recommend using a circular needle to make the play suit, since it will be easier to place the legs next to each other before knitting them together and forming the body.

The play suit is meant to fit an 18-inch American Girl doll, as shown in the pictures. However, it will also fit similar dolls, such as Our Generation, My Life As, and others. I added a sizing chart to the pictures, to help you compare your dolls to the American Girl dolls.

The pdf file includes the written instructions for both versions, as well as several charts with different words you can choose from to add to the front of the suit.

It is recommended that you read entirely through the pattern before starting with it. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me.

For this pattern I used a wider variety of colors, since I made multiple suits:

~ Mainstays 100% Acrylic yarn, 4-medium, in the colors Pink, Black, Gray, White, Purple, and Red, as well as Red Heart Super Saver Solids in the color Turquoise, but you can use any other 4-medium worsted weight yarn you choose.

~ Knitting needles size: US 8 - 5.00 mm
