This scarf is knitted in a heavy laceweight (light fingering/3ply weight) and is beautifully drapey and light. It was inspired by Lisa Bruce’s Favourite Scarf Ever, (which is knitted in a sock/fingering/4ply weight yarn) and a picture of an early twentieth century cotton lace cloth I found in a knitting book my husband bought me for Christmas.

It is knitted in a heavy lace weight yarn and is a really simple knit with an easy to memorise pattern repeat – perfect for car or train journeys, watching TV or taking to knit groups, where the chatter can sometimes be a big distraction if knitting complex lace or patterns that need constant attention.

Width can easily be adjusted to make the scarf narrower (to be worn in the Summer maybe?) or wider (to make a Summer stole?) by decreasing or increasing the number of repeats of the pattern – but in this instance, yarn requirements will change.
